Every year it happens, the tents pop up in the CVS parking lot and the whole Waldo center transforms into a small-town fair with small-town flare. For one whole day people from all over the city flock to our little neighborhood to see what it’s all about.
Business merchants, schools and non-profit organizations set up their tables and hand out information about who they are and what they do and everyone comes away knowing a little bit more about our amazing neighborhood.
There’s always lots to do for the kids too from face-painting masterpieces, balloon animals, live music, bounce houses, a giant rock wall and the ever-loving bungee jump… well I can rest assured that I won’t be seeing my kids the rest of the day, especially if I get them the unlimited wrist-band.
Of course they will always get hungry and start craving some of the delicious smells wafting from the generous supply of food trucks so as long as I’m carrying the $$ they will always be back.
I love to volunteer for this event, so I’m very passionate about it and I wouldn’t have known about it until I met someone from the Tower Homes Association table a very long time ago when I was “checking it out”… little did I know that I would forever become a Waldonian!
I hope I’ll get a chance to see you there! I’ll be in and out most of the day either volunteering for the Waldo Area Business Association who hosts this big event, or at the Waldo Tower Homes Association table. Either way, it’s going to be happening from 10am to 5pm, Saturday, September 16th.
