Tower Homes Association Board Meeting

Thursday, 11 December 2012

7:00 PM

707 E Gregory

Elizabeth Hollis presiding

Membership campaign/billing strategy

Our biggest annual expenditure is over $2,500 to send the membership mailing to our entire geographic area. Maybe we should mail to current and recent members, and pilot a board member walkabout to a few districts. People should walk in pairs – Waldo Homes has had trouble with dogs, surly homeowners, etc. when they have done something similar. March might be good time; nobody wants to walk / talk in cold weather. Josh will think about leaflet design for wider distribution.

Planning for 2013

Library reserved for general meetings in January, March, not May (party in the park), September, and November.

Josh will facilitate January meeting. Troy Shulte, city manager, will be there. KCATA, too, maybe, to talk about cutting through trolly trail.

Gardening as program in March?

July – maybe a weekday social event at a local venue? Maybe on the 11th (lucky 7 – 11!) from 5:30 – 7:30. We could provide appetizers, attendees could buy their own beverages.

Board meetings 3rd Thursdays February, April, June, August, October, December (Safia’s’).

Dumpster Days: We pay $55 per dumpster (would be around $250 each without city subsidy). Last weekend in April and October. We may do this jointly with Waldo Homes in 2013.

Discount cards

Elizabeth will get together with Angie and Simon about doing joint cards with Waldo Homes.

Sidewalk repair programs – Karol

Robin Moore of Public Works (very nice, helpful). She could come talk to board meeting and talk about options. Maybe in March.

Bingham School – 1.2 to 1.4 $M bond must be satisfied. Walmart grocery is next potential buyer. School did not do environmental assessment; maybe there’s asbestos which would make demolition more expensive.

Other items of interest:

New Year’s Ball Drop in Waldo.

Waldo Homes will have January meeting with would-be brewer across the street from ReStore.

Beer Station will be going into former Carly Sue’s at Gregory and Rockhill.

Weds 1 May is opening day of Waldo Farmer’s Market.

Maybe Costo, Home Depot or Lowe’s where Dillards was on Ward Parkway.

Food truck at Walgrens or old Waldo Pet Store. Sometimes bar owners call police to run them off.

Going to be deli where Jackson Hewitt’s was. Lamp place sold, buyer not sure what to do with it.

About $7,000 per month shoplifting at Walgrens. They will start selling liquor tomorrow.

Adjourned about 8:45 PM.
